TWD - Tartest Lemon Tart

Babette of Babette Feasts picked Tartest Lemon Tart for our weekly Tuesdays with Dorie challenge.

Some people find lemons to be bitter and yucky. I find them to be tart and tasty. Even as a child I loved to eat lemons with salt. My mom always said I was going to ruin the enamel on my teeth if I kept eating them, but so far I still have enamel!

I found this tart to be easy to prepare, but I had a little bit of trouble with my crust. I think my tart pan was too big. As you can see from the picture I could not make the crust go up to the top of the pan. Also, I had a bit of trouble with the crust breaking when I cut the pieces. But the crust was tender and delicious nonetheless.

The filling was very lemony and tart, as it should be. We loved it. Of course, as luck would have it, the yankee and I started a new diet this morning. The Mediterranean diet. You are supposed to lose four pounds of belly fat in one week!! We are just going to try it for the one week to see if it really works. But we are having to slip in our pie at night because we can't let this great tart go to waste!

As I was baking this, I began to think of certain people as tarts. Do you know what type of tart you would be if you could be a tart? Answer the questions below honestly and then scroll down to see my opinion.

1. Do you like to pucker up and kiss several times a day?
2. Is RED your favorite color?
3. Are you plagued by unwanted facial hair (aka fuzz)?

If you answered yes to number one, you are a LEMON tart.
If you answered yes to number two, you are a STRAWBERRY tart.
If you answered yes to number three, you are a PEACH tart.
If you answered yes to all three questions, I guess you are just a multi-faceted tramp of a tart!!

Before I depart this post, I would like to endorse a movie we saw last Saturday. Fireproof. If your marriage needs a boost (and I mean whose doesn't), do watch this movie. It is a Kirk Cameron movie so it is very clean. We really liked it. And who doesn't remember cute little Kirk in Growing Pains years ago. He is all grown up now!

Mine bubbled over like a volcano, but it turned out fine after some doctoring :) A little bitter, but I don't think my lemons were of the best quality. DELICIOUS dough!

I think that bitter/tart thing comes down to a question of tastebuds. I'm glad that yours liked this tart. And good luck with the diet; I'm all for any diet that involves pie at night!

I usually love lemon desserts, but didn't have ANY time this week (and was a little afraid of being a tart - I mean the tart being tart). I'll put this on the list to rewind. (And please don't be impressed about the bread until you see how they come out. I can always sneak out to a bakery and photograph their bread in secret...)

Your tart looks yummy! I agree about lemons being tasty, not too tart. I loved that movie, too! Good luck with your diet!

Glad you got to enjoy your tart. After a month of chocolate desserts, I agree a bit of a diet is in order for me too.

Boy! You are lucky to be able to eat lemon just like that, for they say it helps keeping you thin too! LOL ...no need to say, I was never able to eat lemon by itself! LOL
Nevertheless, I could very well eat that whole lemon tart of yours, that I could... OH! YEahhhhh... in a flash! Mmmmm...

Growing Pains!!!! AHHHH memories!!! Your tart looks absolutely gorgeous - Mediterraneans would eat that, no?? Let us know if the diet works, because I've always had my eye on that one!
This is definitely worth a sneak at night! It was so good.

Wow Peggy -- tarts, quizzes, Kirk Cameron? Always a big treat to visit here! So glad you and hubs loved this tart! It looks incredible! Oh, and let me know how that Mediterranean Diet works (not that you of all people have any belly fat to lose, missy.)

Hey girl all these beautiful tarts are making me loose my resolve. I may have to have a bite before noon. OH No! he he So does that mess up the Med diet? Good luck with that. Its a battle when you have all these fabulous sweets around. I think yours looks so good. Hmmm I can't decide what kind of tart I am....just know I am one, and yes I watched the film about a month ago. I liked to too.

I can't wait to watch "Fireproof" with my wife. I hope it's available in those "red box" kiosks, or whatever they're called.

BTW, you won't lose 4 pounds of belly fat in the first week of a standard Mediterranean diet, although you might lose 4 pounds of intestinal contents. The fat loss takes longer and, ideally, should be lost at a rate of 1 pound a week or so.

I put together a Mediterranean diet for my patients, available free at:

Good luck with it, in any case!

Your tart looks marvelous! Good luck with your diet. I'm really awful at sticking with diets given my love of baking and lack of desire to bake healthy treats :)

Looks wonderful.

I ended up not making it.
Your tart looks fantastic! We should share dough...I had too much dough for my rectangle tart, and you could have used my extra! :)

Beautiful tart. Loved the tartness. Med diet and pie. I'm in.

I'm a muffin, and I have the top to prove it.

good luck with the med. I hear it is quite tasty.
