TWD - World Peace Cookies

Jessica of Cookbook Habit chose the World Peace Cookies for this week's baking adventure in our Tuesdays with Dorie group.

My friend at work, Amanda, talked to me about these cookies before I made them. She said they wouldn't look that special when you cut them, or even when you take them out of the oven, but then when you put them in your mouth it will rock your world. She said and I quote, "World Peace Cookies changed my life!" She's so cute. I couldn't wait to try them after all that. My life is in a constant state of change anyway.

So I was going to make them to take to a superbowl party. Got all the ingredients out. I really loved that I had all the ingredients I needed already in my pantry. My new salt was just begging to be used. Wait, what is that amaretto doing in this group? Yikes, that is for a different recipe.
Not sure how that got in the picture.

Once I got them rolled into logs, okay don't say it, don't even think it, I mean it, I can read your mind, (people these are chocolate cookie logs for pete's sake!!!!! They are supposed to look good and chocolatey) I realized you have to chill them for three hours. So they did not go with me to the party.

After winning $25 in our work superbowl pot (lucky ducky that I am), I came home to bake the cookies. They cut into slices pretty well and it made exactly 36 cookies! I couldn't wait for them to come out of the oven. I did let them cool and then my DH and I bit into one. It was a good chocolate cookie. I didn't see rainbows or fireworks, but I did manage to eat about ten of them. Yes, in one sitting. I'm not sure they changed my life, but I liked them.
As my friend Marilyn would say, "these are some darn sexy cookies sweetheart!"

I wonder if JACK on LOST would like to share a cookie with us?Check back on Thursday for some delicious spinach and artichoke dip and a bit more about the superbowl.

Absolutely lovely! And Marilyn is so right, these are sexy!

Wait! Nobody invited me to join in the work Superbowl pot! And what do you mean about the logs -- I'm not thinking anything. You can explain it to me later. Anyway, I am sorry that you didn't see rainbows or stars, Peggy, but I am glad that you liked them anyway. Ten in one sitting is usually a good sign! Your cookies look great!

I'm with you. Good cookies, but I didn't see any unicorns dancing in my garden.

I could totally eat 10 in one sitting! And since I didn't make these recently I am really wishing I had 10 - or even 9 - handy right about now.
Sexy indeed, at least in taste.

No fireworks or rainbows? That is a perfect description. But at least they came out pretty!

I'm glad I didn't bake all of them or I would have eaten more than ten !!!

I have my dough in the fridge having made it last night. I plan on baking them before going to school. How's that for last minute?

I confess to having had the same scatological thought when I looked at my rolled dough. (At least I think that's what you were hinting at!)

Yum, I just love these cookies!

ok, so you put these cookies AND a photo of M.Fox/Jack into 1 post....now I really can't put a thought together....where am I? what was I just doing? What was I going to post in this reply?? I was totally sidetracked with the double hit of yummy cookies and yummy Jack.

I hate it when I don't realize that a recipe needs extra time for chilling or something... I actually liked these cookies better after a day or two. I can't wait to see your dip recipe--I love spinach and artichokes.

Hahahah I totally thought the same thing when they were rolled up! I'm sorry they weren't your favorite, favorite, but they look great!

Um, yep, I do that too. "I don't like this (gingerbread, pumpkin muffins, etc etc) all that much, but I'll just eat a few more JUST to be sure." And um, yep, I'm glad I wasn't making this dough with any 11-year-olds in the house. (But since I know EXACTLY what you mean, that doesn't say much for me!) I'm glad you and Marilyn approve, though, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who was wondering where the salt was. I'm looking forward to that dip recipe!

My cookie logs looked much like yours....only worse.

My son had a comment.

It was hilarious.

10 cookies in one sitting...sounds like a plan to me! These were awesome and your cookies look AWESOME!
Peggy, your cookies look wonderful! I agree, no fireworks, but a pretty good cookie. I'm kind of glad I didn't bother with the logs...at least for this cookie, I've seen a couple posts almost mentioning an unmentionable visual.

I'm looking forward to your spinach and artichoke dip recipe, that is one of my favorite appetizers but I don't have 'that one' recipe that I always use. The recipes I have tried are never a disapointment, but never amazing enough for me not to want to try a new take on it.

Those look really good. If only I could eat chocolate! Maybe I'd see rainbows from being deprived for years!

Lovely. Um, and yeah, if Jack stopped by that would be great.

HAhahaha! LOL! I thought the same thing when I rolled out my cookie logs but I was to chicken to imply it when I wrote about it (well, that and I forgot to). I'm so glad you hinted at this. And if you didn't and I'm just gross, then I apologize and please don't hold it against me!

Great post. If Jack doesn't like these cookies he's not the great upstanding guy that we think he is (dum dum dum).

Ya those logs looked pretty gross!! Your cookies look good..but LOST boy looks better!

Okay, Peggy...what were you really doing with that Amaretto?? ;o) The cookies look great! I think I ate about 10 (okay...11) as well!
Shari said…
I agree that these are sexy cookies!

Haha, I almost wrote something in my post about chilling the logs. Sounds gross. Congrats on your win! And the cookies look great!

Love the random appearance of Amaretto! And you're not the only one who had scatological thoughts when looking at the dough. But I'm glad you enjoyed them. Only 4 1/2 hours (EST) until Lost!

You crack me up with your celebrity guest bloggers!! LOL Marilyn would have loved your sexy cookies. Okay, now I get it.....you work with Amanda and Cathy and Julie and ? That's sooo cool. You all get to share that common interest and giggle a whole lot. Love their stories too. I think this is one recipe I find impossible to resist. So, the second 1/2 of the recipe resides in the freezer. Oh, raw cookie dough you say? Yea, I know its good too. Peggy, thank you so much for sharing your sentiments on my post. Very kind of you. Happy baking and cooking.
