TWD - Parisian Apple Tartlet or "Could I have Two of Those Please"

Jessica of My Baking Heart picked Parisian Apple Tartlet for this week's Tuesdays with Dorie baking adventure. Check out Jessica's blog and get the recipe there.

I have to say, this was one of the easiest, best tasting recipes I have made so far from Dorie's book. Maybe I was just in the mood for a fruit dessert. I could have eaten four of these! Thank you Jessica for a great pick this week! If they serve these on the streets of Paris, I am definitely getting a plane ticket today and fly over there!

My only problem was I felt that I might have made the pastry a little too thin or it might have still been a bit too frozen because it did not rise as much as I had expected it to around the apple. I'm definitely going to be making these again and soon!
We just got back from Connecticut where we witnessed my stepdaughter's high school graduation from Miss Porter's School in Farmington. All the girls looked so cute in their white dresses.

After the ceremony was over, they went on their daisy walk and then jumped in the fountain and smoked a cigar. It was tradition! The weather did not cooperate that day. Cool and raining. The yankee and I did not have umbrellas and I was wearing a silk dress. Not good planning at all, right? Below are two of Laura's three dogs. Meet Aladdin and Kelly.

The day after graduation was glorious and we drove down to Mystic where they made Mystic Pizza movie. It was very pretty down there. I'm leaving you today with a few photos to enjoy of my trip!

It looks like it was a great graduation, in spite of the rain. The tartlet looks lovely. I haven't made mine yet but I'm planning on having one for dessert this evening.

Ah thanks Peggy for sharing your wonderful variety of photos from the awesome tartlet (which I gobbled down both, oops) to the lovely family photos, Mystic, the water and boats. Wow, makes me want to plan a road trip right now. Do you love it there? Okay, back to the food, I loved the tartlets. So quick and easy and a nice little palm sized treat.

Laura looks cute in her bubble dress - too bad the weather didn't cooperate that day.

LOVE Mystic. The salt flats are my fave.

And your stepdaughter is gorgeous, but I can't imagine having all that dog. One dog is more than plenty for me.

Lovely tarts - and I did eat more than one, they were that good. Glad you had a good time in CT - it's a nice time of year to be here, especially in the Mystic area. Congrats to your stepdaughter!

Hey, those pics were taken at the Seaport, weren't' they? I was just going thru my pictures and I have some of the same shots as you! It's lovely there, we just went last summer. Anyway, nice job on the tarts! Could there be any easier recipe than this one??

My puff pastry didn't rise much either; and I noticed that a lot of other ppl's looked similar to ours - so it's not your fault! :) I grew up in CT - love it there - and also know ppl who graduated from Miss Porter's (but quite some time ago).

We've been to Mystic a couple of times and it is such a nice place to walk, shop, and eat.
Love the two dogs... of course!
As for the Parisian Apple Tartlet...oh yeah! That looks too good to be good for you. But the apples make it okay, right? ;)

I grew up in Simsbury, the next town over from Farmington! (OK, two towns over). These tartlets were so good, weren't they! Yours look wonderful - so I'd definitely take two. Please?

TWD - Crunchy Toffee Bars

Every time I bake with toffee chips, I think of Heath Ledger. You get it, right, Heath Toffee / Heath Ledger. I know I'm weird. But in honor of the Oscars this week, I thought a photo of Heath was appropriate. He was a great actor with a brilliant future ahead of him. Sad. Of course, my real photo choice of the week was going to be my personal favorite Hugh Jackman. Since he was the host of the Oscars, I think it only fitting that we post a photo of him, as well, right? After all, he IS the sexiest man alive. Lenox Almond Biscotti

This week Gretchen of Canela & Comino chose Lenox Almond Biscotti for our recipe challenge. Oh Gretchen, thank you thank you, thank you! Biscotti has always been one of my favorite foods (especially around the holidays). Who knew someone of so little culinary experience could actually bake biscotti in their own kitchen? And the greatest thing of all was this was actually one of the easiest things I have baked AND I had all the ingredients I needed right in that pantry of mine. Or so I thought . . . My new shiny red KA mixer was gently purring like a kitten as it mixed my wonderful dough when I discovered - oops, completely out of almond flavoring.
