TWD - Tribute to Katherine Hepburn Brownies

Lisa of Surviving Oz chose Tribute to Katherine Hepburn Brownies.

First, check out photo. Here's a tip for all of you although I am quite sure you know this already. Never try to cut brownies while they are still warm. I was in a hurry tonight and that is exactly what i did. And I know better!

I usually love all brownies. While I also love Katherine Hepburn, I have decided after making these brownies, I think her talents were better on the big screen. These seemed too rich in butter and for some reason, came out heavy. I left out the coffee powder because I did not have any. I must have done something wrong. They were just too gooey inside. As much as I love brownies, I was a complete failure on baking these. Sorry Ms. Hepburn!

I am anxious to see what all the other TWDrs thought of these brownies and how theirs turned out. Check out Lisa's blog listed above for the recipe if you want to try them yourself.

I leave you with one of my favorite Hepburn quotes:

"Life can be wildly tragic at times, and I've had my share. But whatever happens to you, you have to keep a slightly comic attitude. In the final analysis, you have got to not forget to laugh. "

I use one tbsp butter less than indicated in the recipe (and used 1/3 cup flour instead 1/4 cup, as suggested in the P&Q), mine were not at all buttery. I only used 1 tbsp coffee, 'cause I'm not that into coffee-flavoured brownies.

I loved this recipe: no fuss 'cause it's easy to make and delicious too!

Oh no, I'm sorry these didn't work for you! Cathy said she had to put hers back in the oven.

I'm sorry they were too gooey! But I bet they'd still taste great with some vanilla ice cream!

Sorry these weren't your favorites, Peggy. I ended up having to rebake mine. But it's not like we have a shortage of things that we like to bake, is it? We'll somehow manage, even without the KH brownies.
Oh no, so sorry to hear you didn't love these. I thought they were so friggin good! Maybe you should try them one more time for good measure :)

Bummer about the gooeyness. I like a certain amount of gooeyness to my brownies but who i am kidding? I'd take chocolate in an IV.

mine were very very gooey too..but that was ok with me. Mine weren't even espcially warm when I tried to cut them. OK, they were when I tasted that first little corner. I didn't remember not to forget to do that! :)

Peggy sorry about that darn butter. Paula Dean would be disappointed. she would probably add butter. he he Either way, I'm sure you have a great brownie recipe in your arsenal of recipes somewhere.

Darn! I'm sorry you were let down by these. I baked them just a bit longer and they came out pretty good. I had read about the overly gooey and was pretty nervous. That photo looks pretty tempting, though!

That's a fantastic quote! I'm sorry that the brownies didn't work for you. I liked them, but I do think that there are other brownies that I like more!

I did the same thing, cutting them before they were cool enough. Oops. I ended up putting all of them in the fridge to firm up some. They were still tasty, though. =)
