TWD -- Brrrrrrownies!!!

Well, when I saw this week's recipe choice was BROWNIES, you did not have to ask me twice to make them!  Brownies of any kind rank up there with my number one favorite dessert item!  Got all my ingredients ready . . .

I am not the greatest fan of mint mixed with my brownies.  And when I mentioned to Chandler what I would be making mixed with mint, he apparently shared my feelings and made an ugly face, so I substituted Reece's Peanut Butter Cups and "hoped" that they would turn out to Dorie's specifications.


Just LOOK at that chocolate oozing with the rich peanut butter chunks.  I could not wait for them to bake!
I thought they turned out really well.  The peanut butter cups did not melt entirely while the brownie baked which is just what I had hoped for.  We really enjoyed them.  Thank you Karen!

I had my high school reunion last Saturday night and it was a lot of fun!  I usually hate those types of gatherings but this time I really enjoyed myself.  It was good getting reconnected with people I had not seen in a while.  I learned one thing which I will pass along to you all if you ever plan one.  Do not waste your money on a band or a dj.  No one wants to dance.  They want to chat and catch up with their friends.  I'll share this photo of me with a few of my best friends.  The hats were Viking helmets that were centerpieces with balloons flowing from them in our school colors.  We got a little wild and crazy as the night progressed.

Sounds like you had a really great time at the reunion!! Good for you. And nice work with the brownies. PB cups sound like a perfect add in.

Vikings! Very cute. You look good as a Vikingess. Seems those peanut butter cup things have been a big hit with those who used them, probably should give them a try for my son Alex who loves, loves, loves peanut butter cupts! Your brownies look wonderful.

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups? That's pure genious, I should have done that too!! Like you I am not the greatest fan of mint mixed with my brownies :)

Hi Peggy, The Reeses sounds like a fab substitute if you don't like mint. And I agree - say "brownies" and I am there! Love your high school reunion snap - glad you had a good time. I went to mine last year with lots of misgivings, and was surprised at what a good time I had.

Ooooh - LOVE the sound of these with peanut butter! I actually made them with mint like a year ago (after my sister had her baby) and don't remember them. I bake too much. I bet I'd like yours better than the mint ones though!

Peanut butter cups are such a great spin on this recipe! I'll have to try them next time because peanut butter cups that don't melt all the way=yum! It looks like you had a great time at your reunion.

These were good brownies. Not a fav with the mint. Would be perfect with PB cups.

TWD - Crunchy Toffee Bars

Every time I bake with toffee chips, I think of Heath Ledger. You get it, right, Heath Toffee / Heath Ledger. I know I'm weird. But in honor of the Oscars this week, I thought a photo of Heath was appropriate. He was a great actor with a brilliant future ahead of him. Sad. Of course, my real photo choice of the week was going to be my personal favorite Hugh Jackman. Since he was the host of the Oscars, I think it only fitting that we post a photo of him, as well, right? After all, he IS the sexiest man alive. Lenox Almond Biscotti

This week Gretchen of Canela & Comino chose Lenox Almond Biscotti for our recipe challenge. Oh Gretchen, thank you thank you, thank you! Biscotti has always been one of my favorite foods (especially around the holidays). Who knew someone of so little culinary experience could actually bake biscotti in their own kitchen? And the greatest thing of all was this was actually one of the easiest things I have baked AND I had all the ingredients I needed right in that pantry of mine. Or so I thought . . . My new shiny red KA mixer was gently purring like a kitten as it mixed my wonderful dough when I discovered - oops, completely out of almond flavoring.
