TWD - Chewy, Chunky Blondies - And Oh How Good They Are!

Nicole of cookiesonfriday.blogspot.com chose these Chewy, Chunky Blondies for our TWD group this week.  A big thank you to Nicole since we heart blondies!!  Check out the recipe on Nicole's blog by clicking on the link next to her name.


The batter was oooey, goooeeey, and good!!!  Just chunked FULL of deliciousness.  I love anything that is chunky.  These are loaded with pecans, coconut, chocolate chips, and heath toffee bits. 

My photos do not do these justice.  I kept taking pictures on the wrong setting so the color is a bit off and I did not realize it because I could not load them for a few days because my computer was fried.  Then when I had a computer to work with, the brownies were all gone and my photos were what they were.  I shared half the batch with a friend thankfully or I would be seriously waddling down the halls today from overeating.  These reminded me of bar cookies my mom used to make that were like seven layer cookies and had condensed milk poured over them so it was comfort food to me.  Yes, it's good to be able to put a label on things so that you don't feel so guilty eating it all.

So far I don't heart blondies... Tried to make them twice and failed miserably both times! Grrr.... :(

My Mom was not a baker so I don't have a fond memory of anything in the baking realm. So....hence my own favorites. I think these beat the 7 layer bars all to pieces. I'm so glad you loved them. What? only chocolate bits/chips? Who knew we could love the unchocolate side of a brownie? Great work. I'm so glad you're back ..... have a great week.

They look great! I love the nuts you chose, too. I think those would be great with the butterscotchy bit. Those 7 layer bars are a twice a month occurrence around here! These will be appearing again soon, too.

TWD - Crunchy Toffee Bars

Every time I bake with toffee chips, I think of Heath Ledger. You get it, right, Heath Toffee / Heath Ledger. I know I'm weird. But in honor of the Oscars this week, I thought a photo of Heath was appropriate. He was a great actor with a brilliant future ahead of him. Sad. Of course, my real photo choice of the week was going to be my personal favorite Hugh Jackman. Since he was the host of the Oscars, I think it only fitting that we post a photo of him, as well, right? After all, he IS the sexiest man alive. Lenox Almond Biscotti

This week Gretchen of Canela & Comino chose Lenox Almond Biscotti for our recipe challenge. Oh Gretchen, thank you thank you, thank you! Biscotti has always been one of my favorite foods (especially around the holidays). Who knew someone of so little culinary experience could actually bake biscotti in their own kitchen? And the greatest thing of all was this was actually one of the easiest things I have baked AND I had all the ingredients I needed right in that pantry of mine. Or so I thought . . .
