DC -chocolate Cornflake Haystacks

Dorie Greenspan's cookies are the best.  Truly.  I am enjoying being in the Tuesday cookie group.  We make cookies every first and third Tuesday.  Come join us!

Recently we were on a trip to Lagrange Georgia. At a restaurant there on their dessert bar, they had peanut butter cornflake cookies.  The next day we were in a grocery store and they sold peanut butter cornflake cookies so of course I had to buy a few for our trip home.  I liked them so much when we got home I googled and found a recipe for them!  These chocolate cornflake cookies of Dorie's remind me a lot of them in the way they look.   However, the similarity stops there.

I was worried that these were not going to hold together when I put them on the cookie sheet. However they came out OK.  I just ate one while it was warm and while it was good, there was something lacking. They are not very sweet and the flavor is not strong.  I put craisens in mine and really that is mostly what I tasted.  I have never used agave syrup so maybe that is the difference I am tasting?  I am thinking cornsyrup might have been a sweeter taste?

I'm hoping this will get better by tomorrow!

Checking on our website to see how the others liked these. Dories cookies

Funny. I used honey since we didn't have agave, and we thought they were borderline too sweet. A peanut butter version sounds delicious!
These weren't my favorite. I've chalked it up to the raisins, but I bet peanut butter would have made them amazing!
oh, that;s too bad. i liked these, but had to google peanut butter cornflake cookies and omg! may have to make that now--hahaha.

These were not my favorite either. I am taking them to work and will see how my work mates like them. My husband liked them.

I was worried they wouldn't hold together too. Your cookies look good. I liked them, but you are in the majority in not being excited by these.

My husband labeled these "too healthy tasting" and I agree they lacked some sweetness. I'd use honey next time, I think!

The Man liked these. Me, not so much.

Chocolate and PB is so much better.

Well, you know I didn't taste these as they are full of chocolate, yuck, but the people who did eat them, ate plenty and there weren't any left. So I took that as a good sign. Yours look delightful on the plate all ready for a hungry hand to score one or two! Peanut butter makes everything better...lol. Sometimes I just eat it on pasta and call it a meal.
