DC - Blueberry Buttermilk Bars

I attempted to make Dorie's buttermilk blueberry bars.  I tried to half the recipe.  In this case, that did not work as well as I hoped.  Also, When I took my crust from the oven it  had some almost black areas on it like it had burned even though I removed it five minutes earlier than the recipe called for.  They were just random areas.  Anyway the cookies tasted delicious and that's what's important!  I would definitely make this again. I cannot stop eating these cookies!  They are that good! Next time I will make the full recipe.

Check on our website to see how others fared.   Dorie

They certainly look tasty - what tips do you have (I'm thinking of halving the recipe too)

They look good to me Peggy!

These look quite well behaved. Could the black be related to the cornmeal?

I'm curious to know what size pan you baked them in for a half pan since it used an 8x8? They look very blueberry!

I think you liked these more than me but my husband liked them. I hope next time you have a good crust.

Your bars look delicious. It's interesting about the crest because I have mine an extra 3 mins in the oven, but I was using a silicone baking mat under mine. Maybe that made a difference?

They look delicious. I wonder what caused the black spots? It doesn't sound like it affected the taste.
These are yummy! I wonder what caused the black spots. But glad to know that these bars turned our great!

I love blueberries in anything - cake, pie, ice cream but haven't put them in cookies. These look delicious.

Yes, taste is always what matters most! We loved these Blueberry Buttermilk Pie Bars...Mark topped his with whipped cream (because, you know, pie anything always has whipped cream!). I should make these again...some of the gals used mixed berries and I think it would be fun to try them with those! Your bars look wonderful to me.
